Stakeholder Engagement

About Image 1

The Data Labelers Association (DLA) is pleased to invite you to a hybrid stakeholder engagement forum on Ethical AI Work and Platform Accountability on Thursday, 31st July 2025, from 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM (CAT | Nairobi Time) / 7:00 AM to 2:30 PM (CET).

This convening brings together a diverse community of stakeholders—civil society organizations, academia, researchers, government representatives, employers, and workers in the AI and content moderation sectors—to collectively shape a more ethical, inclusive, and accountable digital labor ecosystem.

A few months ago, DLA proudly won a policy hackathon under the theme "Safe and Inclusive Digital Spaces". Our winning proposal called for the development of a Voluntary Code of Conduct (CoC) to uphold the rights, dignity, and well-being of data workers. Following this achievement, we took it upon ourselves to go further—developing a Model Contract that complements and operationalizes the principles in the CoC.

This stakeholder forum will present these two tools and open space for rich feedback, critique, and collaboration toward their improvement and adoption. Your expertise and experience are essential in ensuring these tools are meaningful and grounded in the realities of the ecosystem.

We look forward to your valued participation as we collectively strive to build a just, rights-respecting AI labor environment in Kenya and beyond.
